Formatting techniques in FreePlane

Formatting techniques in FreePlane

Postby quinbus » Mon Jan 21, 2013 8:31 pm

Okay, I know it's longer than it should be, but there wasn't anyway I could cram all of FP's formatting capabilities into a video shorter than 30 minutes.

Does anybody have a good technique for "chapterizing" videos with some sort of "table of contents" that would allow viewers to jump to the timemark they are interested in?

Absent something like that, viewers can drag the YouTube progress bar along and watch the thumbnails for a general idea of where the presentation is based on which of the high-level nodes are highlighted/opened in the mindmap that I use to step through the presentation.

Quinbus,

Excellent video!
I'd like to ask a question. I found on your map that the edges between the root and child nodes converge into one (see edge1.png), but mine are always separate (see edge2.png). How did you do that?

Best,

Under preferences->appearance->root node edges. About half way down the list.

In the video you asked for feedback. This video, like all yours I've watched so far, was excellent. Thanks. I subscribed on youtube.

I hope we can expect more in the future.

This is kind of a specialized request, but I noticed from content in your videos that you work for a Christian organization. It would be great if you could show how you would use FP for Bible study or to develop a sermon. If it could include ideas how to use the presentation mode (or any presentation strategies), that would be the cherry on top. There is a lot of variation in preacher styles for sermon notes, but I'd like to maximize what FP might be capable of to organize and streamline the process.

I've been wondering about using droidplane to read FP maps at the pulpit for sermons and lessons. I was thinking about using a screen capture program to grab and autosave FP screens to be used as a presentation in windows media viewer. Not the best solution, but it might work. I'd love to see your ideas.
