advantage/disadvantage of jar files in addon lib

Postby jokro » Sat Sep 21, 2013 9:16 pm

Hi,
The developer addon tool uploads a directory zip/lib/myPackage with classes to <USERDIR>/lib/myPackage. During this process myPackage is first zipped and stored in the addon mind map and next unzipped in <USERDIR>. This is nice and simple. It is not necessary to make a jar file. As this saves work, my question: is there an added value of making a jar file in this case ? What would be your advice ?
Regards
Jodi

Jars have advantages when it comes to versioning and packaging: All class files and resources that make up a certain released are kept together. For add-ons it's a matter of taste but in doubt use jars if you have more than one or two .class files.
